The tenure of Kerala Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on 23 May 2026.
The previous assembly elections were held in April 2021. After the election, the incumbent Communist Party of India (Marxist)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) formed the state government again after winning 99 out of 140 seats in the assembly, with Pinarayi Vijayan sworn in as the Chief Minister.
Kerala usually has a strong anti-incumbency sentiment and this is the first time a side has won 2 terms in a row (LDF). And recent trends in the local body elections are in favor of a UDF (centrist) return. Will they?
Prediction will resolve as yes if the newly elected Chief minister belongs to UDF coalition (based on news reports).
