IMO, it was doomed as soon as it became clear that the average user of the site didn't care about the blackouts and just wanted to be able to use Reddit normally. The mods of r/Deltarune got a lot of flak for keeping the subreddit closed for like...three weeks. Also, lemmy/kbin seemed to be kinda DOA. I've moved to Tumblr instead, but still check Reddit about once a day to see if there's new Zelink art.
