@AlanTennant in this case, my objective was to give away absolutely all of the mana, in exchange for information that would lead me to the acquisition of a Sakura Red Bull.
This was not up to me.
In the event people had posted locations, I would’ve visited those locations, and replied in the comments with photos of the relevant fridges showing whether they did or did not contain a Sakura Red Bull.
In the event I obtained a Sakura Red Bull, I would’ve posted a photo of it confirming that I did in fact drink one.
It was not entirely up to me, there were thousands of mana listed as an incentive for anyone to provide me any information which would have led to the acquisition of a Sakura Red Bull ahead of the official March launch in the US (see also: the new McDonald’s burger which, although not officially launching until the third of the third, is already available in a number of restaurants)
The goal here was for me to lose all of my mana. I am not happy with the outcome, as I have my mana, and no Sakura Red Bull.
Everyone on this platform could have contributed to a different outcome had they had the information I wanted, that is the purpose of a prediction market, someone with better information than the rest scores the highest.
I was hoping that someone would have better information than I did, and I was trying to incentivise them with mana, rather than mana being my terminal goal, I used it as an instrumental goal to fulfil my terminal goal, in an attempt to help allow someone else to fulfil their terminal goal.
I could’ve just as easily created a market which says “will someone FedEx a Sakura Red Bull to my office address:

1800 Vine Street, LA
By EOW?”
In this case, maybe this would keep you happy, because someone could provide photos in the comments, showing them packaging the item, and including a tracking number, and this would act as wonderful evidence in your example, but I didn’t think the 1500 or so mana I had to offer would be worth the price of the Red Bull, let alone shipping, so in this case, I put the burden on me to procure the item, leaving it up to the comments to tell me where to find it.
I would like to think a citywide bounty hunt is sufficiently different than “ will I eat a sandwich on Tuesday?”
