A key factor influencing YouTube's algorithm is user engagement. This has led to the emergence of clickbaits essentially thumbnails or titles that attract viewers attention even if they don't meaningfully describe the video content.

There are quite a few videos on clickbaits but I recently found a particularly insightful one by Wes Roth were he defended his choice of using the word "Shocking" in most of his videos.

I'm wondering if YouTube will proactively and explicitly address the problem.

This market resolves yes if either of the following two criteria are met:

  • YouTube explicitly states a policy against clickbait

  • YouTube changes the way that Thumbnails and titles are created, fundamentally making these two kinds of clickbaits impossible as we know them (for example having them automatically AI generated according to the video content)

The problem doesn't need to be resolved, as long as one of the two criteria above are met by the end of 2029.
