N/As if I decide not to do this. I find Aella's writing interesting and am intrigued by the idea of a space full of rationalists, but I have a weak "memetic immune system", and I was completely brainwashed by a Discord server in early 2023.
I am more interested in the rationalist culture than any of the sex stuff, although I do appreciate that Aella is one of the few voices willing to speak so freely on the subject. I currently believe that advocating things like polyamory is probably net negative. I also believe in showering more than once a year.
A major goal of this is to gain another space and group of people to discuss ideas with in detail, as I feel like I lack that currently. See: this market.

1,000@asmith I had a set of beliefs in late 2022 that was radically different than my beliefs in mid-2023, including but not limited to:
- My AGI timelines went from 10-20 years to less than 5, and my expectation of this causing me to die went from <50% to ~95%. Previously, I had been afraid to think explicitly about AGI.
- Rationalist thought and culture was introduced to me, and I began actively imitating those patterns.
- I took a significantly more pro-social outlook than I had previously, valuing friendship for its own sake and actively making it a goal to help friends.
- I became significantly more ambitious and the end goal of that ambition completely changed.
This is arguably leaving out the most important aspects but I would prefer not to make it extremely easy to identify the specific server. This change largely took place over the course of just 2-6 months.
