Will Duffy is an American pastor and entrepreneur who organized and largely funded an expedition to Antarctica called “The Final Experiment” in December of 2024. The purpose of the expedition was to settle the online debate about the shape of the Earth by observing the motion of the Sun. Duffy was and remains convinced that the Earth is a globe, and he invited several people who believed that the Earth is a flat disk (colloquially “flat earthers”) to join the expedition. Duffy correctly predicted a 360-degree transit of the Sun above the horizon for a full 24-hour period during the trip to Antarctica (an observation consistent with the globe model of the Earth which has no apparent explanation on the flat earth model), and he expressed hopes that this evidence would cause people to reject their erroneous flat earth beliefs.

Will Duffy also currently describes himself as a young-earth creationist. He is not convinced that biological evolution from a common ancestor is the most probable explanation for the diverse proliferation of life on Earth.

Duffy, expressing a desire not to be uninformed like the many flat earthers he has encountered, has agreed to be taught evolutionary theory by Erika (owner of the Gutsick Gibbon YouTube channel). Erika is a current PhD student in Biological Anthropology who covers breaking news in her field of study and debunks the claims of young-earth creationists on the Gutsick Gibbon YouTube channel.

Erika has planned a 12-lesson class to teach to Duffy in the format of a series of YouTube livestreams in which Erika presents the lesson and Duffy is free to ask questions and discuss. As of the opening of this market, four of these livestreams have occurred, the first in November 2025. The final livestream is scheduled to occur in October 2026.

The market will resolve YES if Will Duffy publicly communicates before the end of October 2027 that he is convinced that evolutionary theory as currently accepted by the consensus of biologists is the most probable explanation for the diversity and ancestry of life on Earth.

The market will resolve N/A if Will Duffy dies or is otherwise rendered unable to issue public communications before the end of October 2027.

The market will resolve NO otherwise.

The close date of this market was chosen to allow one year for Will Duffy to make up his mind after having completed the class given by Erika.

It is not required that Will Duffy cite Erika’s class as the reason for his change of belief for the market to resolve YES. As long as he publicly accepts evolution prior to the close date, the market will resolve YES.
