I want to run a game show at Manifest. TL;DR: Add and comment your name, rally for likes, and get on the show!
Add an @ handle as an answer to the market in the following format: @Quroe
Comment your @ handle in the comments with nothing else in that comment, much like the market answer format. Anybody may add anybody to the market. Only 1 comment made by the person it's about & 1 market per person is valid. Commenting somebody else for nomination will be hidden, and is invalid. (You or others may reply to comments to rally support as you wish. Regular, normal commenting is also okay.)
At the start of the show, a designated coin (or any other fair or unfair D2-dice-like object) will be flipped to determine which Contestant will be chosen first, A or B.
The most liked comment that follows those instructions (with a corresponding market answer following those instructions) will be nominated to be Contestant A if they are...
physically present at the show, AND
have a Manifold account AND can prove their Manifold identity to me, AND
are not Manifold staff (ie someone who can print mana at will), AND
are not already an active Contestant, AND
are willing AND able to participate, AND
will ante แน10,000 OR will be sponsored/loaned their ante on the spot.
If they are absent, then the next valid comment will be selected, cycling through this process until we find a Contestant. I may lock in the top 3 to 10 most liked Nominees before the game show begins at a time of my discretion to prevent like-flipping during failed selection iterations. Plan for the human factor here, but I will try to lock in as late as possible, and I will try to communicate efficiently.
If nobody puts their name here, or if I run out of nominations, then I'll pick somebody out of the crowd.
I can modify this market description in its self-evident spirit if I think it will make the process smoother. (We're "moving fast and breaking things.")
I can trade in this market.
Market for Contestant B:
Update 2025-06-02 (PST) (Creator approved AI summary of creator comment): The creator has clarified the following regarding participation in both this market (Contestant A) and the linked Contestant B market:
A person can be a candidate in both the Contestant A market and the Contestant B market simultaneously. (The "1 market per person is valid" rule applies to entries within a single market, not across both.)
However, if a person is a candidate in both markets, only one of these markets (either for Contestant A or Contestant B) can resolve YES for that individual.
The determination of which role (A or B) is chosen first, and thus which market could resolve YES for that candidate, will be made by an initial lottery (e.g., coin flip). The other market would then resolve NO for that person due to the "not already an active Contestant" rule.
Update 2025-06-02 (PST) (Creator approved AI summary of creator comment): The creator has clarified a condition for an individual's market answer (e.g., an answer for '@Tumbles') to resolve YES:
The individual named in that market answer must make the required self-nominating comment themselves as outlined in the market rules.
If the individual does not make this self-nominating comment, their specific market answer will resolve to NO unless they are picked from the crowd. This self-comment is considered an act of consent.
Update 2025-06-03 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): The creator has announced a tentative schedule for the "Nash Pit" event, which is relevant for the 'physically present at the show' criterion:
The event is tentatively scheduled for Saturday at 7:30 PM PST.
This timing is subject to an approval process before being added to the official Manifest schedule.

@Joshua Tumbles and I propose a challenge. Thoughts?
Tentative game rules here: https://manifold.markets/post/manifold-game-show-idea#RynhznPl
@Joshua I tentatively have Nash Pit on the schedule at 7:30pm PST on Saturday. It looks like it still needs to go through some sort of approval process to be ported over to the official website schedule (https://manifest.is/schedule), but if this looks good to you, make a comment like Tumbles did here to show your interest officially.

@GastonKessler Correct! He can be on both, but only 1 may resolve YES. Contestant A OR B will be chosen first by lot, so we don't know which one will resolve YES first. You can arbitrage them if the percentage across both markets adds to greater than 100%.
@GastonKessler Yeah, of course! However, if Tumbles never comments himself, he defaults to NO for each market he fails to act on. He must consent and act on it.
see below
@Quroe I or anyone else, meeting the requirements could borrow to get to 10k, but if I did, I would pay the same rates as anybody else.
@Quroe Quick question: from when to when (approximately) will there be markets about the contestants' decisions?
@GastonKessler Good question. I'm trying to have that online by end of day, but I want to ensure the market description is bullet proof. I will put it in the game show post for red-teaming later.
@GastonKessler I want to be sure the rules look good before I send the Contestant Choice market out. While I could easily get that online today, it might be more prudent of me to wait for feedback.
