Every year Pitchfork lists the best albums (e.g., 2022.) Which album will be their top choice in 2023? This market will resolve once the list is released (last years was released December 6th.) Note that this list can include albums from the previous year which came out after their last list. I will choose the album which is ranked number 1.
Today, Pitchfork released a list of the best albums this year so far. Of these the highest rated album of the year was Billy Woods and Kenny Segal's Maps with an 8.9.

Pitchfork just released their list:
SZA: SOS
Caroline Polachek: Desire, I Want to Turn into You
billy woods/Kenny Segal: Maps
Wednesday: Rat Saw God
Nourished by Time: Erotic Probiotic 2
People definitely underrated SZA and Polachek on this market. I was surprised to see Nourished by Time so high on the list.
Pitchfork tends to favor some combination of popularity and their own rating system for their album of the year. My own additions to the market are intended to capture this, but there is still plenty of low hanging fruit to add!
