Charles Martinet, long the voice of Mario and other Mario characters, is stepping down from this role, and is not voicing Mario in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

A "special video message" from Martinet and Shigeru Miyamoto has been announced for "a future date"; it's theorized that this Direct might be a reasonable place for it to appear.

It's separately been theorized that he might appear in the Direct to introduce the new voice actor.
