Resolution criteria
Resolve YES if, during the official The Game Awards 2025 pre-show or main broadcast, a new, previously unannounced standalone video game developed by FromSoftware is first revealed on the show (trailer/segment shown on-stream) and corroborated by an official post or press release from FromSoftware or its publisher within 24 hours. Verification: the 2025 livestream VOD on The Game Awards’ official channels and FromSoftware/Bandai Namco/KADOKAWA press rooms. (api.thegameawards.com, vidiq.com, group.kadokawa.co.jp)
“Mainline title” here means a full standalone game (new IP or a numbered/primary entry in an existing FromSoftware series). Excludes DLC/expansions, remasters, remakes, ports, mobile-only projects, collections, and titles explicitly marketed as “spinoff”/“side story.” (bandainamcoent.com, fromsoftware.jp)
If a FromSoftware game is revealed earlier at another show (e.g., Summer Game Fest or Gamescom ONL) and only receives a follow-up trailer at TGA 2025, resolve NO. (polygon.com, theverge.com)
Pre-show content counts; leaks/rumors do not. If The Game Awards 2025 does not occur by Dec 31, 2025, resolve NO. (en.wikipedia.org)
Background
FromSoftware has used The Game Awards for major reveals before; Armored Core VI was announced at TGA 2022. (en.wikipedia.org)
Recent cadence: Elden Ring DLC “Shadow of the Erdtree” launched on June 21, 2024; in 2025 FromSoftware released Elden Ring: Nightreign (explicitly marketed as a spinoff) on May 30, 2025. The Duskbloods was announced for Nintendo Switch earlier this year. These do not qualify as “mainline” under this market’s definition. (fromsoftware.jp, group.kadokawa.co.jp)
The Game Awards is an annual December show in Los Angeles, produced/hosted by Geoff Keighley, with premieres commonly revealed on the official YouTube/Twitch channels and site. (en.wikipedia.org, api.thegameawards.com)
Considerations
Credit typically lists FromSoftware as developer and Bandai Namco (or another partner) as publisher; either account may post the corroborating press release. (fromsoftware.jp)
TGA “World Premiere” branding is not itself determinative; the criterion is an on-stream first reveal plus official confirmation. Use the show VOD and press rooms to verify. (api.thegameawards.com, group.kadokawa.co.jp)
Spinoffs/side stories (e.g., Nightreign) or expansions announced at TGA would not satisfy “mainline” here; numbered sequels or brand-new IPs would. (fromsoftware.jp)
