Resolution criteria

This market resolves to YES if, on or before December 31, 2028, at 11:59 PM UTC, Balaji Srinivasan, official representatives of the Network School, or the school's official communication channels (e.g., ns.com, the official X accounts @ns or @balajis) publicly announce a permanent shutdown relocation or move of the primary physical campus, core residency program, or headquarters of the Network School out of Malaysia to another country or territory.

  • Primary Hub Requirement: The announcement must specify that the primary or main campus is moving away from Forest City/Malaysia. The opening of additional global "nodes" or secondary pop-up campuses in other countries does not trigger a YES resolution if the Malaysian site remains active as the school's primary physical hub.

  • Relocation vs. Shutdown: If the Network School permanently closes or shuts down operations entirely without establishing or announcing a new physical location in another country, this market will resolve to YES.

  • Credible Media Reporting: Credible tech and mainstream news publications (e.g., Bloomberg, TechCrunch, The Straits Times) reporting on an official statement of relocation can be used as verification.

If no relocation or shutdown is officially announced by the deadline, this market resolves to NO.

Background

Founded in 2024 by entrepreneur and investor Balaji Srinivasan (former CTO of Coinbase), the Network School is a physical "startup society" and co-living commune located in Johor's Forest City, Malaysia. Operating under a "society-as-a-service" model, it hosts hundreds of tech builders, remote workers, and creators who gather to learn, exercise, and launch ventures.

In July 2026, the Malaysian Home Ministry launched an immigration investigation into the school over allegations that Israeli nationals had bypassed Malaysia's entry ban by using passports from other countries to participate in the program. Following calls for deportations and regulatory crackdowns by Malaysian authorities, Balaji Srinivasan announced on July 16, 2026, that a planned RM500 million expansion of the campus had been put on hold. He noted that while the school is open to discussing a regulatory framework with the government, they would be forced to "relocate elsewhere" if they do not receive sufficient assurance regarding their investments and the legal status of global participants.
