The Baltimore Baby Bonus Fund is a proposed Charter Amendment from the Maryland Child Alliance that would offer a one-time payment of at least $1,000 to Baltimore city residents upon the birth or adoption of a child.

It needs 10,000 signatures by July 27, 2024 to qualify for the ballot:

It needs a simple majority to pass.

This will resolve TRUE if the Baltimore City Board of Elections reports that voters have passed this measure, or when a credible media publication calls it. It will resolve FALSE if it either does not qualify for the ballot or if it does not receive the 50%+1 needed to pass.

I will resolve it no later than the end of November, to give time for full counting, though may resolve it earlier.

Haha I've semi-seriously considered spinning up an "SF baby bonus fund" or "Rationalist/EA baby bonus fund", just as a fun way to promote more kids existing (also so our own kids will have friends!) Would love to see Baltimore get this off the ground~
