Resolves to the bucket containing the date (Pacific Time) on which Apple first officially announces a MacBook Pro with an M6-family chip.

What counts

• A product whose official Apple name contains "MacBook Pro" (any size, display or design), where at least one configuration Apple offers uses a chip whose name begins with "M6" (M6, M6 Pro, M6 Max, and so on). A refreshed base 14-inch MacBook Pro with the base M6 chip counts.

What doesn't count

• A MacBook Pro whose chips are all M5-family, or M7-family or later. That includes the rumored OLED/touchscreen models, which are reported to use M5 Pro and M5 Max.

• An M6 chip in any other product: the Mac mini (already announced Aug 25, 2026), iMac, MacBook Air or iPad, or a laptop sold under a different name such as "MacBook Ultra".

• Rumors, leaks, benchmarks, regulatory filings, code strings, retailer listings, event invitations, and teasers that don't name both a MacBook Pro and an M6-family chip.

What counts as the announcement (whichever comes first)

1. An Apple Newsroom press release.

2. The product's introduction in an Apple event livestream or an Apple-published product video.

3. apple.com listing the product with a price, an order button or "coming soon". This includes an M6 option quietly added to an existing MacBook Pro.

Pre-order, shipping and in-store dates don't matter.

Dates and edge cases

• The date is the calendar date in America/Los_Angeles when the first qualifying announcement became public. Bucket boundaries are inclusive. An evening Pacific Time event counts on its Pacific Time date.

• "Not announced by Jun 30, 2027" resolves YES in two cases. The first is that no qualifying announcement has happened by 11:59 pm PT on Jun 30, 2027. The second is that Apple announces a MacBook Pro with an M7-family (or later) chip before announcing any MacBook Pro with an M6-family chip.

• If a qualifying announcement happened before this market was created, it resolves N/A.

• Clarifications will be added to this description and won't change which products or dates count.

Background (as of Sep 27, 2026; not part of the criteria)

• Apple introduced the M6 chip in the Mac mini on Aug 25, 2026.

• Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has reported that Apple skipped the M6 Pro and M6 Max, so the only M6 MacBook Pro planned is a refreshed base 14-inch model. In August he said it would likely come in October, based on Apple's typical release schedule. In September he listed it as coming "later this year".

• Apple has not announced an October event. It announced its last two fall MacBook Pros (Oct 2024 and Oct 2025) by press release.
