Current Position:

The highest priced answer at market close will be chosen. All other answers will resolve N/A.
The chosen answer will resolve Yes if the player who makes the move ultimately wins, No if they lose, and 50% if the game ends in a draw.
Tomorrow, a market will decide the other player's move.

Answers must be legal, correctly disambiguated moves. Answers created in the final two hours of the market are ineligible to be chosen.

Answers may be edited before anyone bets on them or by me at the start of a market (i will only use this to correct mistakes) and will be treated as their original move if edited outside of these circumstances.
Resigning and offering draws are not legal moves.
Ties (using the user view, not the api) are broken by (# yes holders - # no holders).

Who will win? https://manifold.markets/MaxE/who-will-win-futarchy-chess?r=TWF4RQ

Previous moves:
1. e4 e5

@MaxE why does this close on april 12

@vincentWang man this market was so cooked. I wanted to resolve it in half an hour
I dont want to surprise people so I'll let it sit another day

@MaxE it's a critical move, so many radically different kinds of games, gambits, tricks and traps galore. an extra day is appreciated, to think through or reconsider strategy and tactics.

boughtαΉ€323 YES

@vincentWang what's the idea here?

@deagol doing random stuff because it resolves na so it doesn't matter

@MaxE apart from the one [mistake, will resolve na], a couple more were edited, so I assume the "edited answers are ineligible" rule would not be enforced?

bought αΉ€2 NO

@deagol @MaxE not trying to be difficult but why are answers being edited? I think it’s interesting to see what happens even for bad moves

@deagol All of the answers I gave this market originally were illegal so i edited them right at the start. The purpose of the edited answers rule is to make people not cheat by editing them after people vote, so I am technically cheating that rule but answers edited immediately after creation are not ineligible.

@MaxE Nc6 was illegal but b5 and d6 were legal, just not the answers you would rather subsidize, which is perfectly reasonable (d6 was later added by @Qq). I'd suggest NA'ing any mistake/illegal answers right away and re-adding instead of editing, to avoid confusion. Especially the insistent "Resign" answers which are known to be NA'ed are a distraction for new players and a waste of time for all.

@MaxE also, NA'ing an edited cheat allows for risk-free tactics:

  • suppose I try to keep down my silly Nd4 "gambit" with a 1k mana limit NO at 35%

  • then a big whale thinks, "you know what, I might wanna play that at 35%, i could control the game and win it for black, i can always make white play worse" this is perfectly fair and should be allowed

  • they hit my limits and set 10k limit YES at xx% forcing it gets picked, i realize i will most likely lose 1k

  • so i just edit the answer to get it cancelled and sleaze my way out of it

I think the ideal policy would be to revert any malicious edits to their original state, and NA any obvious typos/mistakes. I do realize this makes it more onerous for you to enforce.

@deagol what? I thought they were illegal bc they were made from the last market.

@deagol yeah that makes sense

@MaxE

what? I thought they were illegal bc they were made from the last market.

I don't understand, can you explain further?

@deagol they were there because I load drafts of previous days and this time I forgot to change them to the top 3 engine moves

@MaxE ah i see d6 was there last black move but not b5? anyway, it's pretty common for a specific move to be valid through a couple or more turns.
