Will I figure out why my Ubuntu server can't get callback data from Telegram messages by end of month?

It would be great if I could run this bot on dedicated hardware instead of my phone or desktop. I have a server, but I just can't get my interactive bits to work there.

Help would be appreciated, but I'm not sure what info I can provide about the environment. It's somewhat nonstandard, as it's Ubuntu 20.04.04 LTS installed on ZFS root

  • Is the server communicating from the same IP/network as your desktop/phone?

  • Are any aspects of the telegram library functioning? When it fails, does it raise an exception?

I can try to run this later on an Ubuntu box to see if I have any success.

  1. Often, but not always, since phones move

  2. I can send messages, iirc. It is just the callback data that is failing. No error is thrown, it just indefinitely sits there waiting for a response

Reading that, I'm now wondering if it's a firewall issue

Also, any feedback on usage or documentation would be useful

Wish I knew something about this!
