Resolution criteria

This market resolves to YES if, at any point on or before December 31, 2027, Enes Kanter Freedom (formerly Enes Kanter) or any other former NBA player is officially granted eligibility to compete in the WNBA, approved to enter a WNBA Draft, or signed to a WNBA roster.

Otherwise, this market resolves to NO on January 1, 2028.

Official announcements from the WNBA (wnba.com) or reports from major sports media outlets (such as ESPN, Sports Illustrated, or The Athletic) will serve as the primary sources of truth. If a player declares or applies for the draft but their eligibility is rejected, ignored, or denied by the league, this market resolves to NO.

Background

On August 7, 2026, former NBA center Enes Kanter Freedom announced his declaration for the 2027 WNBA Draft, claiming that his legal team had reviewed the WNBA's collective bargaining agreement and believed he met the criteria under current self-identification guidelines. However, Article XIII, Section 1(a) of the WNBA CBA states that "only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA," without explicitly defining "woman" or addressing gender identity rules. Freedom’s declaration is widely seen as a challenge to the league’s policies on gender identity and transgender inclusion in women’s sports.
