The International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) is the largest and one of the most prestigious STEM competitions for high schoolers. Qualifying for this fair requires placing in the top 3% of a regional or state fair.
Last year my team and I advanced to ISEF and won second place there with a project focused on an autonomous chess board. However admittance this year is not guaranteed and our current project remains far from completed.
The team’s project that we are submitting this year is a VTOL UAV which delivers an AED in under 5 minutes across a 5.5 mile radius when requested by a user through a mobile app.
Our team is competing in the regional fair in a large metropolitan city (>2,000,000) with around 1,500 other competitors.
This fair where we are able to qualify occurs in late february and qualifications for ISEF are announced the following week. In the event we do not win our region but get second place in our category, we will advance to state where we will have an additional opportunity to qualify, though against much tougher competition.
This questions resolved YES if my team is selected to attend ISEF through our region the or state fair and NO if we are not.
