Resolution criteria

This market resolves YES if Nintendo updates Mario Kart World to allow players to reliably avoid highway tracks (AKA intermission, connector, routes, etc.) during any online racing mode by the end of 2026. Scenarios that would resolve in a YES resolution include but are not limited to:

  • A specific "circuits-only" playlist or filter, or something similar.

  • Adjustments to course selection voting that guarantee non-highway tracks as an option (such as the Random option as it functioned at release).

The market resolves NO if no such method is implemented by the end of 2026. Scenarios that would resolve in a NO resolution include but are not limited to:

  • Highway tracks remain a mandatory part of the standard rotation with no way to opt-out.

  • The only way to avoid them is via Private Lobbies or Tournaments (must be accessible in Public Matchmaking).

  • The frequency of highway tracks is reduced but still mandatory more than 20% of the time.

Background

Highway tracks are the long roads that connect one circuit to the next, which players must race along and often count as one or more laps. Players initially discovered they could avoid intermission tracks in online races by selecting the Random track option, but as of Mario Kart World update Ver. 1.1.2, that no longer works. With over 200 highway tracks, and 30 standard tracks, the odds are as low that you'll get a traditional Mario Kart race. The community's widespread use of the Random selection workaround prompted Nintendo to patch it, suggesting they are actively monitoring player feedback on this feature. However, Nintendo has not yet announced plans for any additional changes in either direction going forward.
