Anki's Growing Up - Anki / Announcements - Anki Forums
Anki is a free open-source app for spaced repetition. Recently Damien Elmes, the main developer, has decided to let AnkiHub, a for-profit organization that specializes in making Anki decks, tutorials and add-ons, take control of "business operations and open source stewardship".
Resolution criteria
This market resolves YES if desktop Anki and/or AnkiDroid (Android) introduces any paid features by January 1, 2028. This includes recurring monthly/yearly subscriptions, premium tiers, and paywalled features. Donations and one-time purchases of AnkiMobile do not count. AnkiMobile (iOS) is a paid app, so this criteria doesn't apply to it as it was never free and open source to begin with.
Connecting a paid third-party service (e.g. HyperTTS) to Anki doesn't count as long as nothing in Anki itself is paid.
