Last year’s Wrestlemania main event match between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes saw multiple stars make an appearance during the match with varying levels of what would be considered interference.

For the purposes of this market, I am defining interference as an onscreen appearance by a given superstar between the bells of the match beginning and match ending that either directly or indirectly disturbs the sequence of the match. Examples of such interference are as follows (including but not limited to):

Direct:

  • Physically attacking one or both wrestlers involved in the match

  • Tripping a wrestler’s foot under the bottom rope from the outside

  • Striking a wrestler involved in the match with a brandished weapon

  • Hitting a wrestler with a projectile weapon (throwing a chair, etc)

Indirect:

  • Standing on the apron to distract the match official while one wrestler executes an illegal move

  • Brawling with a non-participant at ringside or inside the ropes while the match is ongoing

  • Verbally distracting a wrestler involved in the match from ringside or on the apron

  • Running into and through the ring to chase or evade another non-participant

Basically, if the camera catches a star identified in this market anywhere near the ring on camera pulling some shenanigans between the beginning and ending bell for the match between Cody Rhodes and John Cena, the market will resolve YES for that person.

However, the recent events of the Elimination Chamber event indicate that The Rock may be ringside for the duration of the match. If The Rock does not interfere in any way despite being ringside, letting the events happening in the ring go uninterrupted, he would resolve NO.

I’m hoping this attracts enough fellow wrestling fans to know the business enough to follow my logic.

  • Update 2025-03-05 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Active Competitor Clarification:

    • If the match stipulation is altered so that a superstar (for example, The Rock declaring himself special referee or Punk becoming an active competitor in a triple threat match) is added as a competitor in the match, they are disqualified from being considered to have interfered.

    • In contrast, if a superstar serves as the official (such as a referee), their involvement can still be classified as interference (as demonstrated by the involvement of Nick Patrick).

  • Update 2025-03-05 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Active Competitor Resolution Clarification:

    • If a superstar is added as a competitor in the match, they will be resolved as N/A (not applicable) for interference.

    • This means that any interference actions by a superstar who becomes an active competitor will not count toward a YES resolution.

  • Update 2025-04-20 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): Additional Interference Option

    • The market now includes the option Other/Someone not already added for cases where interference is carried out by a superstar not previously listed.

    • If the interfering superstar is not among the already added options, select Other/Someone not already added.

    • All other existing definitions and criteria for interference remain unchanged.
