Conspiracy theorists allege that the nationwide emergency alert system test on October 4 will cause people vaccinated for COVID-19 to become ill or turn into zombies. https://www.forbes.com/sites/mattnovak/2023/09/29/nationwide-emergency-phone-test-for-oct-4-sparks-conspiracy-theories/?sh=51e1d6f7523b

This market is a bit more granular. If any person suffers an ill health effect as a direct result of the nationwide emergency test (for example, if they are distracted by the alert while driving and get into a car crash) resolve to YES. Otherwise, resolve to NO. If I turn into a zombie, resolve to N/A. Please leave potential examples in the comments. I will not bet in this market.

it woke me up. I consider that a negative health effect.

predicted YES

@Stralor (but seriously, I'll let you know if I see any news)

@Stralor Last call, I'm resolving NO in a few hours with no new information.

predicted YES

@Kraalnaxx all good. I didn't hear anything

Test has ended, share any potential examples in the comments, market will remain open through Oct 4

I feel like it's probably going to trigger a few panic attacks, but that those probably won't be reported on much ("person has panic attack after loud, sudden noise startles them" isn't really newsworthy unless it's a slow news day, and...well, gestures vaguely in the direction of Washington D.C.)

Is anectdotal evidence sufficient? Do mental health affects count?

@oh Anecdotal not enough. Preferably some news story would be attached to the event. Mental health could count, but would have to be relatively major, like causing a panic attack or other sort of break down, not just normal anxiety.
