The Springboks are the clear favorites.
South Africa is also the actual world champion.
The two teams have faced each other a total of 45 times. The Springboks emerged victorious in 27 (60%) of these encounters, which includes four out of five Rugby World Cup matches, with two of them being final matches. On the other hand, England has secured victory in 16 (36%)of these meetings.
In total, 26 of the 43 players from the Rugby World Cup 2019 final are back for another go in Saint-Denis in 2023.
This tells us that the Springboks have a better team and are ready to win again.
@FernandoBarradasToyos I think the form guide lines up with your assessment too. Also South Africa play a style of game that is very high percentage/low risk. They know how to put teams under pressure very well and have strength and size which are hard to combat. Winning in 2019 will probably mean they know what it takes too.
We shall see how things play out on the weekend. The main thing I am keeping an eye on which I think applies to the New Zealand question is that the odds have a tendency to overshoot the true likelihood. Even though someone's a favourite it's important to make a reasoned assessment as to how much of a favourite they are. So I'm looking more at under-priced/over-priced, not necessarily who's favourite or not...
