Interim Coaches are released as a coach immediately after the last game they play. They were never "hired" it is equivalent of a "temp job" with a definitive end.
It is a rule in the NFLCA(National Football League Coaches Association), the only coach that is not in the NFLCA is Bill Belichick.
@SethWalder retirements and trades don't count. I think, unfortunately, I would have to make some sort of individual judgement call on mutual partings of ways, but I'd be heavily inclined to count them as firings.
@JoshuaWilkes as a point of reference for the judgement, what would you have considered DC Leslie Frazier leaving the Bills (a little after coach change season) to have been?
@StopPunting seems like a really good example of the kind of situation where I would make an aggressive 'counts as firing' decision. You could make a lot of good arguments that he wasn't pushed, but ultimately we don't know and accepting those arguments would open the possibility of huge cans of worms.
@JoshuaWilkes How would this be handled? After the season is over, but I see the description says Resolve Feb 27th.
Is this for regular season 2023 only?
Are you counting anyone that is fired during the playoffs & Superbowl(February 11th 2024)?
Are you counting anyone that is fired AFTER The Superbowl and BEFORE The Combine?
