On January 15, 2026, Maria Machando gave her Nobel prize to Donald Trump. Will Trump give her absolutely nothing in exchange?
What counts as "something": An endorsement from Trump, political/military/media action intended to advance Machado's political career, any political favor done at her request, any gift valued over $50,000.
Endorsements must make mention of her political career. Merely stating "She's a lovely woman, she recognized I deserve the peace prize" does NOT count. Saying "She won the popular vote" or "they rigged the election against her like they did to me" would count. Endorsement can come from a Q&A, a tweet, press release, or other public announcement, but they must come from Trump himself or his twitter account. Statements uttered by Karoline Leavitt, claimed to be quotations, do NOT count.
A symbolic gesture like giving her a hollywood star would count as something. Erecting a statue of her or renaming a school or museum after her would count.
If trump sells merchandise featuring her or her prize, only counts as something if Machado grosses at least $50,000 in royalties
What does NOT count as "something": Ordinary hospitality afforded to foreign diplomats, political or military action that benefits Machado incidentally.
In general, I'm not looking to hold "something" to a high standard. The question is not about whether she'll get a reasonable reward, just whether she gets anything at all.
