Oct 2, 9:45pm: Will Michael Gove vote against Liz Truss's tax plan? → Will Michael Gove not vote for Liz Truss's tax plan?
@jbeshir If he votes for the Finance Bill, resolves NO. If he abstains or votes against, resolves YES.
I expect that the contents of the Finance Bill will be negotiated between the ministers and the backbenchers, as they try to avoid an embarrassing defeat. This will involve making changes and these changes will effect how MPs vote.
This question is on whether Gove votes for her tax plan, not about the contents of that tax plan.
From the BBC:
Senior Tory Michael Gove has suggested he would not vote for Liz Truss's Budget when it comes to Parliament, saying "I don't believe it's right."
The former cabinet minister said the PM's decision to cut the 45p tax rate was "a display of the wrong values".
He also argued that using borrowed money to fund tax cuts was "not Conservative".
