Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and was established as a federal holiday in June 2021 through the "Juneteenth National Independence Day Act." It is the first new federal holiday created since Martin Luther King Jr. Day was established in 1983. As of 2023, more than half of U.S. states also recognize Juneteenth as an official state holiday.
Resolution Criteria
Market resolves to YES if June 19, 2025, is listed as a federal holiday on official U.S. government sources, such as the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) website or other authoritative federal government holiday schedules.
The market will resolve to NO if:
The holiday is repealed before 2025
The date of observance is officially changed
The federal government removes its status as a federal holiday
