Will any of the three flat earth participants on "The Final Experiment" renounce their belief in flat earth before 2026?

TFE is an experiment where flat and globe earthers are traveling to Antarctica to see if the 24 hour sun is real or not. Resolves yes of any of the flat earth participants (Jeran Campanella, Sean Griffin, or Austin Whitsitt) makes a sincere statement renouncing their belief in flat earth before 2026.

  • Update 2024-15-12 (PST): Lisbeth Acosta is also included as a flat earth participant whose potential renouncement would qualify for a YES resolution. (AI summary of creator comment)

  • Update 2024-19-12 (PST): A YES resolution requires an explicit endorsement of the globe Earth model. Simply acknowledging specific evidence (like the 24-hour sun) while still expressing doubt about the Earth being a sphere is not sufficient for a YES resolution. (AI summary of creator comment)

That certainly seems like good evidence for yes, although it could be interpreted as him saying he has left flat earthers as a community while still retaining the belief. It seems like he has taken a neutral or agnostic stance at this point, though. He had a really long stream yesterday, haven't watched any of it at this point but according to some comments it looks like he is agnostic on the shape currently. Would that be sufficient for a yes resolution?

@Mana Watching a bit of the stream now, skip to around 12:50: https://www.youtube.com/live/Y4iCnL7U4Po

Seems to be him rejecting both the community and being agnostic about FE. If agnosticism counts, seems like it should be yes.

@Mana 4:49:17 and many other parts are good evidence for his agnostic stance. He may pivot to (globular) geocentrism soon.

bought Ṁ50 NO

In this livestream, he claims that "as it stands now, the Earth measures flat, level, and stationary, and the sky can only be explained by living on a sphere."

He also made some comments implying that the Earth is "huge and indescribable" and that the "Earth is irrational." He has stated that "the ground measures flat and stationary and the sky can only be explained by living on a sphere."

I don't think this is enough to resolve it to yes yet.

@Mana If the intent of this trip was ever to convince more than a few onlookers of the sphericity of the Earth, it was always going to be a big failure. None of the big names would ever be convinced especially. They are either grifting or too stupid to ever get out of it, perhaps a mix of both. (I am not necessarily convinced any of the big names are knowingly grifting. But once you have no real job and make your money doing flerf livestreams and selling $3 apps, self-deception can become even more powerful than before. In addition, many doomsday cult believers become even more attached to the cult after the doomsday comes and goes with nothing happening. These are low-level cult members with nothing to gain, not the higher ups. Human psychology is really something.)

The true (geometric) flat earth prediction is that the sun could never set. The fact that it does, below the horizon, every single day on non-extreme latitudes of the Earth easily debunks it for anyone with a normal brain. The true flat earth prediction for TFE is not the sun setting but rather staying in a certain variance in the sky, and reducing and increasing dramatically in angular size as the day goes on. This didn't happen, but the predictions of the globe matched reality perfectly.

In short, we need to accept perhaps some people in life really are beyond saving. No amount of evidence will ever convince anyone of certain truths. Will Duffy is barely better in this regard, being a Young Earth creationist. But at least he knows it isn't flat.

I checked... literally none of them admitted globe earth and just brushed it off

all of them are complete friggin cons, man. istg

@EmilyConn CALLED IT (on another market)

I KNEW JERAN WAS JUST STUPID AND NOT A CON

@EmilyConn Based on this: "He went on to acknowledge the importance of the evidence before him, saying: “I honestly believed there was no 24-hour sun – I honestly now believe there is. And that’s it.”

Despite his confession, Campanella still didn't fully embrace the globe Earth model.

“I won’t say the Earth is a perfect sphere,” he added."

I'm not sure it should count. He does not explicitly endorse the globe here. But would be happy to hear input from others

EDIT: I'm stupid because the market is based on renouncing flat earth, not endorsing the globe. Will read the article again more closely

@JaundicedBaboon Previously, he explicitly said that the flat earth model required a non-24-hour-sun in antarctica. He has now confirmed that the 24 hour sun is, indeed real. This is an indirect renouncing of the flat earth model, although if he's playing the long con he might come back and ignore the sun.

bought Ṁ500 YES

@JaundicedBaboon
yeah I think because the market is framed as rejecting flat earth instead of embracing globe earth, this should definitely qualify as enough evidence for “yes”. Seems like he is rejecting flat earth but still isn’t full convinced of globe earth

bought Ṁ299 YES

@JaundicedBaboon Any updates?

@Gameknight Someone had this to day about Jeran's wafflish response (He admitted there was a 24 hour sun but refused to explicitly renounce flat earth):
"I feel a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of goalposts suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly dug up."

@Gameknight I don't think Jeran explictly renounced flat earth and thus it does not resolve yes

@JaundicedBaboon yeah you right Jeran is still a con

Please, please please, someone in the flat earth gang, please be not a con

I bet actual fake money on their humanity

bought Ṁ20 YES

I think there's a decent chance one of them will. Lisbeth Acosta is also going to Antarctica - are you including her too? If yes, I'm pretty confident this is a YES.

@Gameknight Will add to include her. Didn't realize there was more than 3
