Although AC Milan de-facto ended up in 5th place last season, they have been notably active in the transfer market. The decline since their scudetto-winning season can be analyzed from various perspectives:

- The impact of their semi-final run in the Champions League on league performances.

- An extraordinary season from Napoli.

- The absence of Kessie, a key stabilizing force in the midfield.

- And many other factor still.

Several factors also suggest a potential victory for AC Milan, the most intriguing of which include:

- Napoli's loss of Luciano Spaletti as their coach.

- The numerous transfers AC Milan is engaging in.

Even after acquiring 8 new players at the time of writing, there are still hints of more transfers to come.

An interesting pre-season development, though speculative, is head coach Pioli's decision to switch to a 4-3-3 formation from the previously used 4-2-3-1. This shift is mirrored in the club's purchases. While it could lead to improvement, the unimpressive pre-season results cast doubt on this strategy, and switching formation has lead to a huge player overturn, which creates additional risk.

AC Milan's recent struggles have included poor offensive quality. Last season, aside from star Leao and veteran striker Giroud, the offensive lineup was lackluster. It's therefore hard to imagine that the addition of players like Pulisic, Chukwueze, and Okafor is going to worsen the situation, but the potential is certainly there for these players to massively strengthen Milan's offensive capabilities.

In the midfield, the acquisition of Ruben Loftus-Cheek brings back a Kessie-like presence. Milan felt his absence after he left last summer, and if Loftus-Cheek finds form, it could be a significant step towards regaining championship form. However, the sale of Tonali, a stable fixture in Milan's midfield, is a considerable loss. Whether newcomers Reijnders and Musah can fill his shoes is uncertain and poses a significant risk.
