@IsaacKohane if he goes onto the Patriots' practice squad I would say it definitely shouldn't be closed early. You can also make a fair argument that if he is a free agent or even on another team's practice squad the same is true, because the Pats could easily sign him. If he gets signed by another team then I think the case for early NO is quite good, although personally I would just leave it open for the season regardless.
