Speak Now (Taylor's Version) comes out on July 9th, 2023. It will be Taylor Swift's third re-recorded album. Recently I have been coerced into listening to and rating all Taylor Swift songs for social reasons, and Speak Now is the album with the highest average rating according to my spreadsheet.
The sound is what tends to change most between original albums and re-recordings. Sometimes the instruments change, and Taylor always sounds older on the re-recordings (obviously). She also tends to have less energy but more mature vocals and more control over her voice. For the other two albums she has re-recorded, I would say that the re-recordings are better than the originals. Fearless (Taylor's Version) was more interesting and sounded better than Fearless and Red (Taylor's Version) sounded less...plasticky? But Speak Now already sounds good vocally and from the one snipped from Mine (Taylor's Version) that's been released, I think it sounds worse than the original (less energetic, mostly).
This market resolves to the percentage of songs on Speak Now (Taylor's Version) which are also on Speak Now or Speak Now Deluxe which are superior to the original version (as judged by me). I will not allow for any ties between songs; I will declare one "better" than the other.
Input from my friends and others will be taken into consideration.
