Question resolves at the end of 2024 or if Google/YouTube:
Remove the pop-up without replacement
Officially allow ad blockers on their platform
Come to an agreement with major Adblock companies/developers
Other scenarios will be added or judged on a case-by-case basis.
Context:
Recently YouTube has decided to enforce their Terms of Service and started to crack down on ad blockers, showing people who use them a pop-up message before allowing them to access the video player.
In some cases, video playback is even disabled entirely, which expectedly led to frustration and backlash among users, who have grown accustomed to an ad-free experience and don't want to subscribe to YouTube Premium.
Google argues that "Ads support a diverse ecosystem of creators globally and allow billions to access their favorite content on YouTube".
For what it worth, I used to see the popup in Brave browser that has built in ad blocking, and I don’t see it any more.
