NOTE: the total amount time judged will not be 60 days but rather until March 7th at 11:59 PM EST.

My friend is 18 and has been a regular heavy drinker for around 2 years. Since August he has been surrounded by a catholic community that drinks most days of the week, several of which very heavily. In particular, my friend has around 60-70 standard drinks* per week. His habit of 60-70 drinks per week started around August, the time he joined this community. My friend will not be separated from this environment for more than a week until around May 2025.

In June my friend will be going to abroad for 2 months where he will be unable to access or consume any alcoholic product. This is currently his motivation for gaining some sobriety.

As of today, 2/4/25, my friend has not had a standard drink for 2 days. Will he able to make it 32 more consecutive days, until 3/8/25, without drinking greater than or equal to one standard drink of alcohol within any given 24 hour period?

*Standard drinks as defined by NIH: https://www.niaaa.nih.gov/alcohols-effects-health/what-standard-drink
