Resolution criteria

The State Department has already swapped out Calibri for Times New Roman in all its official documents, reversing a Biden-era change. The change took effect on Wednesday (December 10, 2025). This market resolves YES if Calibri is reinstated as the official State Department font for official documents at any point after December 10, 2025. Resolution can be verified through official State Department communications or directives. This market resolves NO if Calibri is not reinstated by the specified date.

Background

Times New Roman had been the State Department's official font for nearly two decades, from 2004 until 2023. In 2023, then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken switched to Calibri, a change aimed to increase accessibility for readers with disabilities. Calibri is a sans-serif font that can be easier to read, and the impact of serif fonts' decorative flourishes can be more severe for people with learning or reading disabilities like dyslexia or for people with low vision. Secretary of State Marco Rubio characterized the 2023 change as part of misguided diversity, equity and inclusion policies.
