It's a 5e campaign? Does your GM allow homebrew? You might have a better chance getting Unearthed Arcana approved. There's some truly wild bullshit in there that was at one point official WOTC material even if they later admitted it was wildly unbalanced and gave up on it. I had a player in a sword coast campaign run a Mystic until double digit levels and it was pure chaos but super fun.
