Resolution criteria

This market resolves YES if Tom Aspinall successfully defends his UFC heavyweight title at least once before December 31, 2026. A successful defense requires Aspinall to win by decision, knockout, submission, or technical knockout. The fight must be officially recognized by the UFC and result in a decisive outcome (not a no-contest, draw, or majority draw). Resolution will be determined via official UFC records at https://www.ufc.com/athlete/tom-aspinall.

Background

Aspinall was promoted to undisputed heavyweight champion in June 2025 following Jon Jones' retirement. His first title defense against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 on October 25, 2025 ended in a no-contest after Gane poked Aspinall in both eyes during the first round, so this did not count as a successful defense. Aspinall is known for his finishing ability, having finished six of his eight UFC wins by the halfway point of the first round, and holds the UFC record for shortest average fight time at two minutes and eighteen seconds.

Considerations

Aspinall and Gane are expected to rematch for the heavyweight title in 2026. The heavyweight division has limited top contenders, which may affect scheduling and the frequency of title defenses.
