I am going to Zurich for an exchange semester at ETH Zurich. I am looking to rent a room or flatshare for at most 1000 CHF/month (but preferably less).
Resolution criteria
I will consider the market resolved when I have signed a rental agreement for a room or flatshare in Zurich that meets the following criteria:
Location: Within Zurich or its immediate surroundings, ensuring reasonable commuting distance to ETH Zurich.
Rent: Monthly rent does not exceed 1,000 CHF.
Duration: Lease period covers the duration of my exchange semester at ETH Zurich.
The market will resolve to the date range during which I first found and successfully contacted someone with a rental offer. If no suitable accommodation is secured by September 13, the market will resolve to "No suitable accommodation found before September 13."
Background
Zurich's rental market is highly competitive, with low vacancy rates and rising rents. As of 2025, the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment ranges from CHF 1,950 to CHF 2,300 per month, making it challenging to find accommodations within a 1,000 CHF budget. (theluxuryplaybook.com) Shared accommodations (WGs) are more affordable, with rooms typically costing between CHF 600 and CHF 1,200 per month. (housinganywhere.com) ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich offer limited student housing options through the Housing Office, but demand often exceeds supply. (ethz.ch)
Disclaimer: I won't trade in this market.
Any accomodation offer, tip or useful information is welcome ๐.
