Resolution criteria
The winner will be determined by the outcome of the College Football Playoff National Championship game between No. 1 Indiana and No. 10 Miami on Monday, January 19, 2026. The game will be played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, and broadcast on ESPN. The team that wins the game will be crowned the 2025-26 CFP national champion. Resolution will be based on the final official score as reported by ESPN and the College Football Playoff official website (https://collegefootballplayoff.com/).
Background
This is the 12th edition of the College Football Playoff and the second to include 12 teams. Miami (13-2) will face unbeaten Indiana (15-0). Indiana is seeking to complete a perfect season and secure the program's first-ever national championship. Miami owns five national championships, most recently claiming a BCS championship in 2001, and was also an outright national champion in 1983, 1987 and 1989. Miami will be the first team to play for the modern college football national championship at their own stadium.
Considerations
Indiana has been historically dominant in the playoffs, becoming the first team in CFP history to win two playoff games by 28-plus points. Miami has won three games in three distinct ways—a late road touchdown to edge Texas A&M in a 10-3 defensive struggle, a physical 24-14 upset of defending champion No. 2 Ohio State, and a dramatic last-minute comeback to beat No. 6 Ole Miss 31-27.
