Bad weather! I was told to make this market the other day but didn’t want to worry about it, now I’m even more worried!
I’m going to arrive at the airport 6 hours early and ask to move to an earlier flight. I have a 75minute connection in LAX before a long flight to Sydney.
I got upgraded on the 15h leg so I don’t want to miss it! First flight is reg economy and I wouldn’t care what seat I’m moved to for that flight or replacement.
I also have another connection in Sydney but it is trivial to rebook that one (Aus domestic)
Update 2026-09-27 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): It counts as missing a connection even if the creator is successfully rescheduled for another connection.

@Quroe if the delay is bad enough then I’m certain to miss the connections, but it’s still interesting bc I often miss the Australian connection regardless of delays
Spent the entire time at the gate on the phone complaining. First service person told me to use the chat, I get on the chat and I do what ChatGPT says which is tell them “do not rebook me until I confirm” and then they immediately rebook me onto something economy bs because there’s nothing available (tbf there were no Polaris seats to Sydney tomorrow)
An hour later on the phone eventually I keep telling them I can see other flights to Melbourne instead of Sydney that I can fly business, repeat x10 and eventually they escalate to someone who can arrange it. Now booked Polaris to Melbourne tomorrow and then connect to Adelaide
The first person refunded me immediately without me agreeing, so maybe new market will I receive the refund as well? It wasn’t a waitlist upgrade, I had paid upfront for a confirmed upgrade (miles + $600, it was a very good deal for a 15h flight so of course I wanted them to honour it)
still unclear: what hotel I stay at when I land in LA later tonight, what other compensation I will get (excluding the $15 meal voucher they texted everyone lolllll) and what to do tomorrow
@Gen also worth mentioning that if it weren’t a mechanical fault and it was weather, I am 99% sure they would have told me to kick rocks. Lucked out big time with the cause of the delay if nothing else …
Also got some intel on why they wouldn’t let me fly early - it’s annoying to arrange bag connections (or something???) for international legs where it’s all on one ticket. Idk it didn’t make sense to me but it probably helped them feel bad that I had tried to avoid this and still missed my flight
@Gen You must be cursed. To go through all this trouble to dodge weather, have the weather be fine, and then get a mechanical delay anyway is crazy. In like 50 flights I've had only 1 delay after boarding and it was weather related.
@Gen If you want to work at a coffee shop I highly recommend Smoky Hollow in El Segundo (Blue Butterfly is also good but much busier). If you like the beach I would recommend walking around Manhattan Beach or Hermosa Beach pier. If you like museums the county museum of art is good.
Edit: I forgot to mention, but be prepared to spend an arm and a leg for ubers/lyft
@Zeolite I will probably find 1 thing to do during the day and then otherwise spend all day in the airport lounge, but we’ll see! Depends where I end up staying ig
@Gen that was my doing
i saw the weather was not looking too bad so i sabotaged your plane's throttle so i wouldnt lose mana
sorry
@Gen Does it count as missing a connection if they reschedule you for another connection successfully?
@Quroe Yes, mostly bc it still messes up my schedule a lot, and it seems very unlikely that I'd get scheduled on another flight with Polaris upgrade. My first time flying Polaris, I don't want to miss it - the lounge is very nice in EWR at least!
@StevetptC8 I was surprised too, I even received the alert saying they have a travel waiver and there's no cost to switch. Still wasn't able to. Maybe because of my connections
