1Day Sooner is hiring for the position of Hep C Director, someone who would be responsible for managing projects related to the establishment of a hepatitis C controlled human infection model. (This market is also a job ad!) Full details here: https://www.1daysooner.org/jobs

The market will resolve to the number of days (counting today as 0) until staff are notified that someone has signed a contract to fill the role. It’s centrally a project management/advocacy role; there are no specialist or technical requirements. The role was posted to 1Day Sooner’s website yesterday; as first steps, 1Day reached out to the 80,000 Hours job board to have it posted there and it’ll go in the newsletter as well. If it’s slow going, I think it might go on Indeed too.

“We are looking for someone to oversee efforts to establish a controlled human infection model to test a hepatitis C vaccine within the next two years…if accelerating the use of the Hep C challenge model by a year would buy 10% of a projected 2040 year of disease burden, that would equating to saving 1.8 million years of human life.

The Hep C Director would serve as a project manager for the different initiatives composing the effort to establish a human challenge model, coordinate between the different organizations involved, assist with drafting academic articles to advance adoption of the model, and identify and resolve delays in model development and adoption.”
