Though the tide of war has turned in Russias favor the past few weeks, Putin continues to balance precariously between his strong-man persona and complete governmental control, and a Russia that will - unless the Ukraine war is won outright within a year - be further depleted of resources. These will have to be diverted to support the war effort, most likely increasing dissatisfaction domestically. Although Putin continues to kill off political rivals without repercussions, will 2024 finally be the year his rivals have had enough?
