@EnopoletusHarding the Melian dialogue (at Melos) in conjunction with the account of the Sicilian expedition is my favorite. But a shootout also for Pericles Funeral Oration, that is the one presidents frequently, including Dubya at the conclusion of Gulf II emulate.
@EnopoletusHarding is that the Landmark Edition. It is really heavy with illustrations (maps) and annotations. The original text isn't too long, and there is always wikipedia to get the context for the bits that truly intrigue you.
