Why is this market not resolved yet?

@RiverBellamy why would it be?

@AlexanderTheGreater Because TikTok is currently banned in the US.

@RiverBellamy is it? So it's banned but still there? I guess we need a definition of "banned" for this market

@AlexanderTheGreater Google playstore currently says it cannot be downloaded due to legal requirements, after the Supreme Court upheld the ban. In what sense is it "still there"?

@RiverBellamy wasn't it back up yesterday with a big thank you note to Trump? Not sure about reaction times of the app stores after the aborted shutdown. Maybe it's going through the approval process again? 🤷🏼‍♂️

@AlexanderTheGreater I have no idea. But why would it matter if it is or will be back up? It was taken down due to legal requirements. That is a ban, and it happened before April 1st. Nothing in the title of this market requires the ban to remain in effect for any particular period of time.

@RiverBellamy it's odd because the initial shutdown seems to have been voluntary and preceded the deadline

@AlexanderTheGreater You can call it odd if you want to, it is a ban.

@RiverBellamy how did "the ban" happen? Did someone at the store decide it's time to take the app down due to legal reasons or did Bytedance take it down themselves for their little political stunt and put the message up? Genuine question

@AlexanderTheGreater As I said, when I search for it in the google playstore, there is a notification from google that it is unavailable due to legal requirements. It isn't just absent from the playstore. That requires someone at google to have made the decision, and unless both Google and the Supreme Court are lying, google acted based on the legal requirement. Please don't use me for your news source. There's no real question that a ban happened here, google (among others) will be happy to give you the facts.
