Will there be an easy way to run an instance of Manifold locally before July?

This is what exists right now, or this if you don't want to run it in Docker. Would be nice if it were something as simple as "download this github repo, then run this init command and it's online". For the purposes of market resolution, it doesn't have to be quite that simple, but I have to be able to do it in under 10 minutes the first time I try it. (10 minutes of my work, not counting time spent downloading or running long scripts. Does count time I have to spend signing up for cloud services, and also has to be free.)

I will not bet on this market

Hi, we do want to make this possible, but there's still a lot of work to do to get there. We are switching databases from Firebase to Supabase, which will simplify the dev setup process a ton.

My guess is that it won't be down to 10 minutes of work really ever. Unless private instances become a product offering, which we trialed last year.

But it's possible that later this year it might get down to merely days of work. Right now, it's nearly impossible, so weeks/months of work lol.

I'm not sure how much it matters for getting something online, but I already have a Firebase project and a gcp account, so setting up those accounts will not be a part of the time.

I've bet it so low it's practically a bounty at this point.

@HankyUSA Yes, that's essentially my goal with this market. I need a complete but small private manifold instance and I've been entirely unable to bring it online. I could have gone with a bounty, but by doing it this way I hold my self to giving it another shot in July.

@DavidFWatson Have you made sure that the Manifold development team is aware of this?

@HankyUSA I'm not sure who to notify... I told @IsaacKing about it, he created the previous equivalent market. Is there someone else I should notify?

@Manifold Please make the Manifold development team aware of this market. I don't want to say too much, but I do recommend you meet with @DavidFWatson. I predict you'll be interested what he's trying to do.

In case it matters to you, I don't think the instance David is trying set up would create competitive pressure for Manifold. I believe it would be used only within our organization. We won't use the public Manifold instance for informational security reasons. I doubt you are going to offer some kind of on-premises solution.
