Resolution criteria
Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election on November 5, 2024, and will be inaugurated as the 47th president. This market resolves YES if Trump remains president on December 31, 2028. It resolves NO if he is no longer president on that date for any reason, including death, resignation, removal from office, or loss of a subsequent election.
Resolution will be determined by checking the official status of the U.S. presidency on December 31, 2028, via the White House website (https://www.whitehouse.gov/) or official government records.
Background
The President and Vice President serve four-year terms. Trump previously served as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021. Trump, who has been elected to two non-consecutive terms, is constitutionally barred from being elected to a third presidential term, meaning he cannot run for reelection in 2028.
Considerations
December 31, 2028 falls near the end of Trump's second term, which would conclude on January 20, 2029. The market resolves based on his status on that specific date, not whether he completes his full term.
