Resolution criteria
This market will resolve based on the outcome of a community poll of Manifold users created to decide the question "Is Anime For Kids?".
YES: The majority of voters in the poll agree that anime is for kids.
NO: The majority of voters in the poll agree that anime is not (exclusively) for kids, or is for all ages/adults.
If no specific community poll is created or referenced by the creator before the market's close, this market will resolve to NO, reflecting the industry-standard categorization of anime as a broad medium of animation with diverse target demographics rather than a single children's genre.
Background
While animation has historically been viewed in some Western cultures primarily as entertainment for children, anime is a broad medium of Japanese animation spanning multiple distinct target demographics:
Kodomomuke: Specifically targeted at young children (e.g., Doraemon, Anpanman).
Shonen / Shojo: Targeted at young teenagers (e.g., Naruto, Sailor Moon).
Seinen / Josei: Specifically written for adult audiences, often featuring complex political, psychological, or mature themes (e.g., Monster, Ghost in the Shell, Berserk).
Industry data shows that the global anime audience is highly concentrated among adults, with viewers aged 18 to 24 making up the single largest demographic block.
