NZ is facing division as Classical-Liberal party ACT is attempting to pass a revision, The Treaty Principles Bill, to the Treaty of Waitangi, a founding piece of legislation that covered the rights of Maori people.

Resolves to Yes when the bill receives Royal Assent. Resolves to No if it is abandoned. If a new iteration of the treaty is made after it was abandoned, market resolves to No.
I can’t see how this is passing. Every other party in parliament opposes. Even ACT’s own coalition partners have only agreed to vote it to first reading, with National explicitly saying it’ll vote it down afterwards.
Only way it’d pass is if it got seriously modified in Select Committee, sufficient to alleviate any concerns, and even then it’s become so toxic that I can’t see it being worth it politically.
Anglos are so funny with their so-called "treaties* with Native peoples...
My brother in Protestant Christ, if you can unilaterally amend or "interpret" it like this, then it's not a fucking treaty.
