Resolution Criteria

Resolves YES if the jury in the first social media youth addiction trial (currently underway in federal court) returns a verdict finding one or more social media companies liable for harm to minors.

Context: This is the first of approximately 2,000 pending lawsuits alleging social media platforms are designed to be addictive and harmful to children. The verdict could set precedent for the remaining cases. Major defendants include Meta, TikTok, Snap, and others.

Resolves NO if the jury finds in favor of the defendant companies, or if the case is dismissed, settled, or declared a mistrial before a liability verdict. Resolves when the first jury verdict is announced, or by June 30, 2026 (NO) if no verdict has been reached.

I'm having trouble finding the specific case this question is referring to. The question says "in federal court" so I don't think it means the KGM case (isn't that California rather than federal?), maybe means MDL No. 3047, but I'm not sure that one's meant to get to a jury.

This has already happened no? Is this referring to future trials? https://www.nytimes.com/2026/03/25/technology/social-media-trial-verdict.html
