The National Football League (NFL) is the main professional league for football of the American variety. Before the 2022-23 NFL season, the NFL sold exclusive streaming rights for some of its primetime games to Amazon Prime Video, something it has done for every season since, including the upcoming 2024-25 NFL season. These Prime-exclusive games are thus Amazon Prime primetime games.
You may know these games as Thursday Night Football, but this is misleading, as at least two Prime-exclusive games are not scheduled for a Thursday this season:
Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs on November 29, 2024 (a Friday)
A Wild Card game on the weekend of January 11-12, 2025
Wikipedia provides the full list of Amazon Prime primetime games for the 2024-25 season. The NFL website provides a partial list (without the Wild Card game). The schedule is subject to change.
A prime game is a game in which both teams score a prime number of points. If an Amazon Prime primetime game is also a prime game, it is an Amazon Prime primetime prime game.
0 is not prime. Neither is 1. But it's worth noting that 2 and 3 are. However, 4 isn't. That being said, 5 is. Despite this, 6 is not prime, although 7 is prime. On the contrary, none of 8, 9, or 10 are prime. Actually, you can just look this up.
The only examples of Amazon Prime primetime prime games so far have been:
Cleveland Browns def. Pittsburgh Steelers 29-17 on September 22, 2022
Philadelphia Eagles def. Houston Texans 29-17 on November 3, 2022
Jacksonville Jaguars def. New York Jets 19-3 on December 22, 2022
All three games occurred during the 2022 NFL season, so the 2022 NFL season would have finished with a prime number of Amazon Prime primetime prime games (3). Meanwhile, the 2023 NFL season would not have finished with a prime number of Amazon Prime primetime prime games (0).
Will the 2024-25 NFL season finish with a prime number of Amazon Prime primetime prime games?
I will not trade on this market.
This market will close:
before kickoff on the final Amazon Prime primetime game of the season (likely the Wild Card game);ORwhen it is no longer possible for the 2024-25 NFL season to finish with a prime number of Amazon Prime primetime prime games, whichever is sooner.Update 2025-01-11 (PST): This market will instead close after the Wild Card game between the Steelers and Ravens at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET ends.
Update 2025-01-01 (PST) (AI summary of creator comment): - There are no Prime Video-exclusive games in week 18, leaving only the Wild Card game as the final Amazon Prime primetime game.
If the Wild Card game is a prime game, the market resolves to YES (2 Amazon Prime primetime prime games in the season).
If the Wild Card game is not a prime game, the market resolves to NO (1 Amazon Prime primetime prime game in the season).
2024-25 Amazon Prime primetime games

Week 17: Seattle Seahawks def. Chicago Bears 6-3 (not a prime game)
Wild Card: Baltimore Ravens def. Pittsburgh Steelers 28-14 (not a prime game)
@traders Unfortunately, it wasn't to be. The 2024-25 NFL season ends with just one Amazon Prime primetime prime game after the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-14 in the last Prime Video game of the season.
Thank you to everyone who traded and commented on this market! Definitely one of the most fun markets I've had the privilege of creating!
@Calibrate I love your markets. They are some of the best and quirkiest I've come across. Always a pleasure to participate.
There are no Prime Video-exclusive games in week 18, so that leaves just one Amazon Prime primetime game left -- the Wild Card game.
If this game is a prime game, this market resolves YES (2 Amazon Prime primetime prime games in the season).
If this game is not a prime game, this market resolves NO (1 Amazon Prime primetime prime game in the season).
@traders I initially intended for this market to close right before the kickoff of the Prime Video-exclusive Wild Card game (between the Steelers and Ravens, scheduled for Saturday 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET). Could you signal using the like/dislike feature whether you want to keep the market open during the game (like) or closed during the game (dislike)?
Our first Amazon Prime primetime prime game of the season is in the books: the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Las Vegas Raiders 19-17 on Black Friday!
That doesn't give us a prime number of Amazon Prime primetime prime games (1 isn't prime), but it does get us closer -- 2 and 3 are both prime. Place your trades...
@Calibrate Notably, this was on a prime day of the month, the 29th.
It is an Amazon Prime primetime prime game on a prime day.
2024-25 Amazon Prime primetime games

Week 17: Seattle Seahawks def. Chicago Bears 6-3 (not a prime game)
Wild Card: Baltimore Ravens def. Pittsburgh Steelers 28-14 (not a prime game)
Now would be a good time to point out that the first game of the season (Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs) kicks off today, which is a Thursday, but it's not an Amazon Prime Video-exclusive game. Thus, it wouldn't count for this market.
