Back when I was looking for a job, I got very tired of applying to jobs only to never hear back. So I started digging into the page source of postings on Indeed. Turns out, Indeed hides the actual posting timestamp deep in the metadata.
Some of these jobs are 6+ months old; the oldest posting I found was over 8 YEARS OLD. Clearly only intended to harvest data. Note that these results all appeared on the first or second page of my search results for "developer". Clearly, many people are wasting their time with these postings; worse, they are giving their data away to scummy actors.
So I made a browser extension to expose ghost jobs on Indeed.
In addition to revealing posting age, JobScrub allows the user to permanently hide postings from specific employers (think "AI trainer" jobs and "work from home data annotator" and other scam-adjacent stuff).
At the end of 2026, will JobScrub have 20+ premium, paying users? Firefox + Chrome combined.
Currently, I do not intend to spend anything on advertising, relying entirely on traction from social media, but that may change.
