With the Twitter/X announcement of retiring 'block'
https://twitter.com/lindayaX/status/1692705481653973132
what noun/verb/term will the company use to designate the evolution of the feature?
Will it remain as "block" ?
Will 'block' be rolled into the term 'mute' with varying levels of 'mute' ?
Will they introduce a new term to replace 'block's current features? (quiet, deafen, deboost, sap, drain, curse, banish, badger, parrot, mime, rock, brick, de-aggro, etc..)
If they decide to use a combination of terms, I will accept both. ex: If we will 'drain mute' people, then i will both accept 'drain' and 'mute'
Similar to how X renamed 'Tweet' to 'Post', the resolution should be fairly clear. The UI should have the new term built in.
Currently we have 'block' as the button on '...' on a tweet.
Basically, what word will replace 'Block' Here? Will it be a new word, or will it just become part of 'Mute' Above? (Vote Mute) If you think its going to combine.
@Shump seems like they backed off on the proposed change... so if it remains as 'block' by end of year, ill resolve as 'Block'
If Mute remains as it is, Called Mute, and Block is replaced by Hide
That would resolve as 100% on 'Hide' option (or Other if Hide was not submitted)
I changed the title to make it clear I'm focusing on the evolution of 'Block'. I also added a picture which unfortunately renders as obnoxiously large haha.
I also cleaned up the description to try and make it clear that if Mute remains, its about whether block becomes a part of it (which would be the resolution 'Mute') or block takes on a new word not yet in the UI to describe it
